Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about IronCoaching — from getting started to billing and AI insights.

Getting Started

New to IronCoaching? Start here.

IronCoaching is a coaching platform built for strength and fitness coaches. It gives you a program builder, a client management dashboard, a marketplace listing, messaging, analytics, and AI insights — all in one place. Your athletes use the companion IronLedger app (free) to log workouts, and you see their data in real time.

Yes. The Basic plan is free and covers up to 10 clients, the full program builder, and a marketplace listing — no credit card required. Pro ($29/month) and Expert ($79/month) unlock messaging, IronLedger integration, analytics, AI insights, and more. See the full breakdown on the pricing page.

Go to ironcoaching.app/signup and create your account. After signing up you will be guided through a short onboarding flow to complete your coach profile — bio, specialities, certifications, and avatar. Once your profile is live it appears on the coach marketplace for athletes to discover.

IronCoaching is the coach-facing platform where you build programs, manage clients, and run your business. IronLedger is the free mobile workout-tracking app your athletes use to log sessions and receive your programs. The two apps share the same database, so data flows between them automatically when a coaching relationship is active.

Programs & Training

How the program builder and delivery system work.

Open the Program Builder from your dashboard. Add weeks, then days within each week, then exercises within each day. You can set sets, reps, RPE or RIR targets, rest periods, and video cue URLs for each exercise. Save the program as a template to reuse it across multiple clients. Learn more in the program builder guide.

Yes. Programs are structured as a collection of weeks, each containing training days. You can add as many weeks as your program requires, mark individual weeks as deload weeks, add week-level notes, and reorder weeks by dragging. This makes it straightforward to build 4-, 8-, or 12-week mesocycles.

IronCoaching supports seven exercise metric presets: Strength (sets, reps, weight), Timed, Distance, Cardio, Hold, AMRAP, and EMOM. Each preset shows the relevant columns in the program builder and in the athlete's IronLedger logging view. You can also specify RPE ranges, RIR ranges, and per-set values.

Yes. Programs can be exported as a print-ready PDF or as an Excel (.xlsx) file from the program detail page. Basic plan exports use IronCoaching branding; Pro and Expert coaches can export with custom branding. Both formats include week section headers, exercise details, and notes.

Client Management

Inviting athletes, IronLedger sync, and client goals.

From your dashboard, go to Clients and generate an invite link or code. Share it with your athlete. When they accept, they are added to your client list and you gain access to their IronLedger workout history, personal records, and any goals they have set.

Yes. Athletes download IronLedger (free on iOS and Android), log in with the same account they used to accept your invite, and their workout data syncs automatically to your coaching dashboard. They can see programs you have assigned, log sessions set by set, and track their personal records.

On the Pro and Expert plans you can create structured goals for each client — strength targets, weight goals, body composition, habits, and competition dates. Strength goals (e.g., "squat 200 kg by June") update their progress automatically as the athlete logs new personal records in IronLedger, so you always see live progress without manual updates.

Analytics & AI

Data dashboards, AI insights, and the feedback loop.

The analytics dashboard (Pro+) shows e1RM progression over time, session volume, training frequency by muscle group, and exercise comparison charts for up to three exercises simultaneously. Expert coaches also get advanced volume distribution by muscle group with volume zone coloring to flag overtraining or undertraining quickly.

Expert coaches can generate AI-powered insights for any client from the client detail page. The AI analyzes the client's recent workout history, personal records, goals, and training trends, then returns a structured report with pattern observations, progression rate analysis, and coaching recommendations. Insights are generated fresh on demand and cached for 24 hours.

The AI feedback loop (Expert, opt-in) lets you rate AI insights with a thumbs up or down and optionally add corrections. When you opt in, your two most recent highly-rated insights of each type are injected as few-shot examples into future prompts — improving the relevance and accuracy of AI outputs over time. Enable it in Dashboard > Settings > AI & Privacy.
